Perugia

A day or two on the mountain was always followed by a trip to an Umbrian town. Perugia is the capitol city of Umbria and a 45 minute drive from our mountain residence.  Marina was attending a ceremony to accept awards (won by former residents) for a film competition on the theme of light.  We got a guided tour of the Casa Museo, a grand old house of former centuries, and I sketched the ceiling frescoes while the awards were given.

Our “reward” for coming along was to take our lunch in the piazza, a leisurely affair that culminated with a birthday pastry and serenade for Deb (on the left) by a wandering musician.

Later I did this sketch of Marina, who was the one taking the group picture. You can see this face represented in the art of countless churches in Italy.
