Seated in the Center

“Seated in the Center”, acrylic, collage, stamping on tissue textured w/c paper

This was one of the paintings that sold at Art at the Source last weekend, and I don’t remember ever featuring it here on the blog.  It began as a contemplation of the meditation experience of entering the inner temple.  The symbols ‘a’, ‘ka’, and ‘tha’ from the sanskrit alphabet came to mind, remembered from a morning chant I did for many years.  Sparks of gold rising up out of the seat in the center where all longings are satisfied.

  1. I like the almost explosive atmoshere, grounded by the square form. Beautiful unification of opposing elements, and a lot of dynamic tension. What’s that earthy, transparent green? Congratulations on the sale!

  2. The temple seems grounded in calm while everything around it is stirring, perhaps even chaotic. Stamping the symbols is inspired. Congratulations on the sale.
