Watercolor and Sharpee pen, 3″ X 8″

I have painted Calla Lilies so many times – the perfect subject for a watercolor painting.  But this one was as much about the 15 minutes of dazzling bird song.  The singer was a fellow invisible to me in a tree behind.  It was hard not to believe that it was precisely for my benefit.  I wanted to run up my street and call everyone out to listen to this virtuoso songster.  I was so overcome that for I completely forget that the deer had just eaten most of the buds off my 16 rosebushes.
