Don’t Fence Me In

“Don’t Fence Me In”, ink and gesso on w/c paper, 11 X 15″

Our new chicks are itching to fly.  When you take them out to hold, they use your lap as a runway, race (on their preposterously large feet) to your knees and lift their wings precariously.  Must be scary to take your first jump and not know for sure if your wings are flight worthy yet.  We fence chickens in to keep them alive, then they spend most of their lives behind wire.  This chicken I’ve painted outside the coop, magnificently free.
