“What do you love?” by Muse Patricia
The Saturday Muse group arrived yesterday with their Traveling Muse Journals, ready to pass them on to the next person with their blessings. The assignment was to get their books started by picking a theme and creating the cover. Not a particularly easy task we discovered as the members related their hesitations, preoccupations, ruminations, and sleepless nights devoted to this open ended assignment!
It reminded me of the words of Phillip Guston,
When you start working, everybody is in your studio – the past, your friends, your enemies, the art world, and above all your own ideas – all are there. But as you continue painting they start to leave, one by one and you are left completely alone. Then if you are lucky, even you leave.
. . .and the Muse arrives! And as you will see from these journal covers, the Muse definitely arrived!
“Far Away Places”, by Muse Isabelle
“Sky Scapes” by Muse Arianna
“Open the window/Through windows” by Muse Linda
“Sidewalk Cracks” by Muse Marilyn
“Just Dance” by Muse Christina
“Play a Little Muse Music” by Muse Paula
This last one is the book I get to play in this month. . .while playing my muse music! If any of these themes turn you on, give it a try!
