“See the Forest for the Trees I”

My figures always want to be connected to organic shapes and to grow out of the surface like a tree or flow into rivers or hold up mountains.  There’s a companion piece to this one I plan to finish this week.  (So now that I’ve written that, I will have to!)

Meanwhile I’ve spent the morning painting our old mailbox a Tuscan blue, among other tasks to restore our yard for the coming of ARTrails open studios in two weeks.  We live on a country road and have wonderful neighbors who we only see when we’re out doing gardening or mailbox painting.  You don’t end up getting much done for all the visiting, but it’s just so pleasant.
