Greetings! I’m a painter who just keeps on discovering fun new things to do with paint. Also a meditator who likes to take a quiet moment and use paint and pen to play until something from within gets revealed (I call this Contemplative Sketchbooking) And I’m passionate about watercolor sketchbooking and fill sketchbooks with the every day events and travels of my life. Favorite sketch subjects include my family, a husband and two teenage boys who share our home in California wine country.

Feel free to leave a comment where it says “Comment” at the end of each post.

    Susan,

Did you write the poetry for “My Map”? Really liked that!

well after your “adventure”, i had one of my own…a hawk took one of my “new teenagers” yesterday. i was so upset. it was during the rain storm. i was trying to get them back into the coop, when i noticed one of my girls lying on her side with what i thought was a “sister”. i was shocked to see that it was a hawk staring me in the face, with a hook in the neck of my little one. i grabbed a broom and swung hard[silly me], thinking it would let go of my little one. after a few swings, the hawk flew off, but my little girl was dead. it was pouring but i managed to bury her, still so angry. the dark brahma that she had come with was so lost.[ they tend to stay with their "pals". today she was a little lonely but seemed to be better. [ i think i was the worse off, having dreamnt[is that a word?] of the ordeal a lot last night. today i was on the look out constantly for hawks. it’s not a good feeling at all. now i will be thinking of that for a long while. jeanette did tell me that you had another one. “reds” are good birds and good layers. enjoy… i am enjoying your sketch books. xoxo ciao

Loved your watercolors from the Yucatan. I head there with my family in two weeks. I will have to try to paint/draw as well while there. But, I have a big question – where did you folks rent your kayaks for surf kayaking?

Hey Susan. Thank you for the delightful spring that you put into my step today as I pictured you in your beret, although I like the hat in this picture too, heading out the door to the cafe.

    Nice to meet you.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Susan,
I stumbled on your blog thanks to googling “first nation story” and looking at images.

I’m a writer and workshop facilitator, working on a handbook and workshop for non-profits about storytelling. I would love permission to use your painting, “Coho learns to jump – story of perseverance” in my handbook.

The handbooks are given to workshop participants for free. The organization that is hosting the workshop is a charity and all of the participants (to my knowledge) work with charities or non-profits.

Here’s a link to the organization that I’m working with: http://www.hollyhockleadership.org/

I will provide you with a proper credit for the piece and a link back to your website.

If you provide me with your email address, i can show you the copy (still draft) that I’d like your image to accompany.

    With best regards,
