“Creature” by Tallulah, acrylic
As promised, here is Tallulah’s (see yesterday’s post) correction of my painting. Her vision was somewhat less encumbered than mine. I think she spent some time out in my garden where there are plentiful lizards and that may have effected her perceptions. I saw a lot of yellow jackets swarming around her at lunch as well, which may have contributed to her need to paint a powerful spirit ally like this.
Inks, gesso, collage, by Susan
On a more serious note, I think this one, a workshop demo, should be titled “Word Laundry”. When I purchased this tissue paper I thought it was all Chinese/Japanese or some other indecipherable (to me) Asian language. But then I noticed that there are other pictorial symbols I also don’t recognize. Any ideas here?

Susan,
What an inspiring weekend! Like yoga, I just have to get it going… Thank you for the richness and depth of your teaching and your encouragement.

I really like both of these – they are so different in so many ways and yet came from the same artist (apologies of Tallulah). Great range of technique, subject matter and interpretation!
I love the textures and patterns of the second piece. The wash in the upper left corner is a wonderful complement to the textures and harder edges of the rest. Happy to see our Japantown paper purchase put to good use!
What fun, playful painting ! Can’t help but smile !
Susan, it’s been a delight looking through some of your blog posts. I love both of these paintings. Both for different reasons — the lizard is such a fun and whimsical image and the collage is wonderful in its spontaneity and directness and strength. I wonder what the papers say. I found you through Bob’s blog.
Excellent collaborative work.
