Pen, watercolor, collage in Arches Travel Book
So here’s what I was doing Saturday while Bob was taking pictures on our shared “Artist Date” in the city. This non-Japanese guard was my only stationary target – I could tell he wasn’t going to move for a long time. I mean it was pretty peaceful there and he didn’t look like he was doing this job for exercise. The pigeons on the other hand, were not cooperating, and ended up having to hide behind the origami paper. I think if there had been more of them perhaps. . .I eventually would have figured them out, but having nothing to feed them did not help. I’m thinking of adding birdseed to the small list of necessary items to bring along for travel sketchbooking, along with pen, paint, sketchbook and water. The red and white print on the lower right was cut out from my chopstick wrapper in the restaurant. Does anyone know what it says? I hope it’s not embarrassing.

What a wonderful website. I will visit often. I “discovered ” your work at a travel sketching class in Calistoga. The instructor had found some examples of fun sketches from the Art Crawl. I love your work and will keep following it. I’d love to take a workshop.
Great stuff! He definitely doesn’t look Chinese!
Ooops! I mean Japanese.
Lovely figure sketch and overall composition.
This is easily my favorite thing you’ve posted in a while.
