One must have a place to go
to find the air laden with sea breezes

One scent airborn

This “lady of whispers” appeared out of an abstract beginning with liquid acrylic on canvas textured with rice papers. It’s a bit of a self portrait (as they all are!) -emphasis on the mystical and dreamy, with a healthy dose of nature thrown in.

I’m back from a powerful meditation retreat over the weekend. Sketching did not happen, but this one from earlier this summer sums it up.
The Universe has eyes in elbows of trees

radiant earlobes releasing sundrops,
toes dancing nature’s melodies,
knees bending in prayer to hearts

I find that the most frustrating yet rewarding sketch subjects are the ones in motion. This model was dancing with a scarf while I sketched madly and with total acceptance that I would have to throw out the majority of sketches. This one captured something about movement . . .

Today’s contemplation started with playing with some gold and bronze acrylic and textury gel and then some fine black rock I brought back from Canada. The figure appeared along with the message, which is open to interpretation. I’m still working on figuring it out!
THe Oracle is on her head today, flowing downward, arms [...]

This lady appeared in a sumi ink beginning that I’d dropped some interference green paint into. She’s a whisper of a summer dance in a fragrant garden.

Tried a different point of view at my figure drawing session. There was a balcony above the model so I sketched this standing up. Good practice. THe head is shaped so differently from this angle, and the hand looks really big - maybe because it’s closer?
